Strange. Upgraded from .38 to .45 and it's now not blocking. The log shows this:

###########################
#Begin loading congig file:
# 31/03/2006 2:27:03 a.m.
C:\Program Files\Helicon\HotlinkBlocker\Filters\HotlinkBlocker713294508 .ini

Line 9: (Unknown expression)     [Protect]

Any ideas?

I actually found various *.ini files in that folder. Is it one for each domain?

Just ignore this error, it means nothing. We remove it in next build.
Yes, there is one *.ini file for each web site.

Thanks for the reply.

I noticed that since upgrading from 0.38 to 0.45 the software is not blocking images/folder anymore!

No changes in configuration, just installed over the existing, rebooted the server.

Anything I can do to trace this?

Please show your site link and HotlinkBlocker configuration. Also check that HotlinkBlocker ISAPI filter is loaded and running under your site properties.

The site with the Hotlinkblocker is www.geekzone.co.nz.

The configuration is:

#################################################
# HotlinkBlocker Configuration file

Signature=f2cfa8d1-[....]
LinkExpires=1800
NotifyOrder=MEDIUM

[Protect]

A test page is available on www.mywedding.co.nz/test.asp, which is in the blocklist just for test - the image is not being blocked.

I still have the 0.38 file here, should I reinstall it?

I don't know how ';' character trap in configuration, but it should not be there:

The ";" is not in the ini file. I did a copy and paste and perhaps it was included because it was a TAB char?

Anyway, just looked at the .ini file and the configuration is as you show.

Still not blocking.

I might reinstall 3.8 tomorrow...

And what about HotlinkBlocker ISAPI filter? Is it loaded? Maybe there are some error messages in System and Application log?
Also try to remove [Protect] section form the configuration file.

The ISAPI filter is loaded, but yes there are entries in the event log (Application):

Event 513: Initialization failed. Please check configuration.

Please check permissions on the Filters folder under installation. Check that permission inheritance is enabled.

Thanks for the suggestion. Just checked the permissions and inheritance is set. Just restart the domain and it still logged the Even 513.

In 99% cases this event means insuffient permissions. What happens if you set Everyone (at least) read permissions to the Filters folder? Also check that a filter path on ISAPI tab points to the correct .dll file.

Thanks again... The permissions for the folder and all files are Read/Execute for Everyone. I've manually changed the ISAPI DLL path to point to the correct hotlinkblocker*.dll file.

Also excluded it from the Antivirus automatic scan, but still failed to load.

Please show your exact configuration file. Turn off "Forum codes" to prevent corruption of your .ini file by a forum engine.
Or better send it as an attachment to the support@helicontech.com

I see there are the ";" again... I will manually edit this file right now and test again.

I have just deleted the file and just changed the Signature, clicked Apply and OK, so that it would recreate the file. It still fails to initialise.

The previous entry is an empty file and Hotlinkblocker logs an error on the Event entries...

Thanks for your patience while we debug this...
