With APE how do i get a seo style of rewrite like wordpress
where www.mydomain.com/page.aspx?=about becomes
www.mydomain.com/about also what do i need to setup for
extensionless mapping

The rule should be something like this:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule (.+) /page.aspx?=$1 [NC,L]

And you should check in IIS settings that it allows extensionless URLs.
