I have a url that keeps showing up in google webmaster tools that I want to just fix to avoid the error.

The url is structered like this...

http://www.widgets.com/gifts/pc/<b>Gardener</widgets.htm

you can see that this url looks weird and is incorrect. I can't figure out where its coming from and I cant make it give a 404 so I just thought I maybe we could fix the url through a rewrite. We basically need to get rid of "<b>Gardener</" from the url.

so it should look like this:
http://www.widgets.com/gifts/pc/widgets.htm

Please help.
Thanks guys

Ok, please try to have the following rule:

[ISAPI_Rewrite]

RewriteRule /gifts/pc/\<b\>Gardener\</widgets\.htm http\://www.widgets.com/gifts/pc/widgets.htm [I,RP]

Sorry, I forgot to mention widgets.htm is dynamic so it changes
based on the category.

Ok, then it should be like this:

[ISAPI_Rewrite]

RewriteRule (.*)\<b\>Gardener\</(.*) http\://www.widgets.com$1$2 [I,RP]

I tested this out... and it doesn't do anything. Any other
ideas?

Please confirm it's ISAPI_Rewrite 2 you are using.
And please try the rule like this:

RewriteRule (.*)<b>Gardener</(.*) http\://www.widgets.com$1$2

It's definitely ISAPI_Rewrite 2, I tried the new one and it still didn't work. What I noticed is that the url does change to a 404 error with or without the rewrite code. May I PM you one of the pages so you can check it out?
