Something like

http://www.blogsa.co.za/default.aspx
or
http://www.blogsa.co.za/mypage.htm
(ie anything with an extension)

Should not be rewritten.

Please try to put the following lines into httpd.ini in the root of the site:

[ISAPI_Rewrite]

RewriteRule /([^./]+)/? /blogs/blog.aspx\?blogname=$1 [I,L]

Thanks for that. Looks like its working fine.

Had to sort out a couple of relative-url issues for images on the page but now its working well.
