One of our clients has three sites that they own, and we
are trying to use a .htaccess file to redirect two of the
sites, say www.oldsite.com and www.otherold.com, to one
site, www.newsite.com. The .htaccess file we are using is:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond !^www\.newsite\.com
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.newsite.com/$1 [R=301,L]

When we browse to www.oldsite.com and www.otherold.com,
only one of them redirects, and that is only in certain
browsers. Is there a specific reason that the code isn't
working? What other code would we have to use?

Please, see examples.
It contains the rules for such purpose.

I've already checked the Examples page, none of them work
for the purpose of redirecting the old sites to the new one
when one of the old sites is requested.

Please, check if ISAPI_Rewrite is working at all as described in rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">FAQ.

In .htacces of www.oldsite.com (and www.otherold.com), please, try using the following:.

Code:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.newsite.com/$1 [NC,R=301,L]

[NC] flag should make rule case insensitive.

Regards
Andrew
