Large Log Files
We have Helicon Ape installed as a way of providing single-sign-on functionality for our Adobe Connect installation. Lately we've been having some issues that may be the result of performance problems on our SSO server. Checking the Helicon Ape installation, I saw that we had two very large log files:
--error.log: 1,765,532 bytes
--rewrite.log: 9,223,836 bytes
Could the size of these log files degrade performance? They haven't been cleared since 2013 at least. If clearing them would increase performance, what is the procedure for doing so? Forgive my ignorance on the subject, but I didn't set this up and so I'm still trying to figure my way through things. Thanks!

Re: Large Log Files
Hello.
The very size of these files should not affect performance, however excessive logging could. I suggest you take a look into your httpd.conf file and comment out all "LogLevel", "ErrorLog", "RewriteLogLevel" directives to reset logging to the default level.

Re: Large Log Files
Thanks! Do I need to restart services after commenting out those sections or will the changes just start working?
Re: Large Log Files
ISAPI_Rewrite automatically reloads a changed configuration file, so changes should start working without restart.
Re: Large Log Files
Awesome, thanks! So here are the lines I'll be commenting out:
RewriteLogLevel 9
Loglevel debug
ErrorLog error.log
There is also a line called "RewriteLog rewrite.log". Should this be commented out too?
Also, is there a safe method to clear the existing log files after these changes are made?
Thanks again!
