Can't install Python project from Web Platform Installer

02 Sep 2014, 10:45

I'm using IIS 8.5 on Windows Server 2012 and Web Platform installer 5.0. Everytime I try to install a Python project from the Zoo tab, I get failure to install because .Net 3.5 for Windows 8 did not install successfully. I've attached the Web Platform installer log. Is this not a supported platform? Thanks.

Hello!

Please try to install IIS with features manually:

1. Start -> Control Panel -> Programs -> Turn Windows features on or off.
2. Select IIS node, expand it and select these nodes: World Wide Web Services, .NET Extensebility, APS.NET, Common HTTP Features, Static Content.
3. Click Ok and wait to install complete.

Then restart Web Platform Installer and try to install Python project again.

That was unsuccessful. It seems the source files for .Net 3.5 can't be found, as it tells me to "Specify an alternate source path".

1. What was unsuccessful?
2. On which step you got the message "Specify an alternate source path"?
3. Does installing windows features complete?

I'm having a similar problem. I've created a new Windows 7 64 bit virtual machine and have successfully installed the Python Hosting Package. As per the next step in your instructions (http://www.helicontech.com/articles/run ... gi-on-iis/), I'm trying to install the Python Project template. It finishes the download step and then hangs on the installing step. I've left, got to lunch, gone to a meeting and waited hours but it's just hung up.

I've looked through the various logs but don't see anything that looks like an error. I'm not sure which log would apply for the Python Project template. Since this is a virgin install of Windows 7, I went ahead and wiped it out and did a full re-install but had the exact same problem. That makes me suspect that there's a bug of some sort in the Python package install script. It's dated 5/13/2014. Can anyone point me in a direction on where to look?

Thanks
