I'm a novice with IIS server, installed ISAPI Rewrite 3 and am trying to write a rule to 301 redirect non www domain to www.

Rule as below, used on Apache and works fine but not on IIS, .htaccess file contains:

RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^domain\.co\.uk$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.domain.co.uk/$1 [R=301,L]

Any suggestions would be really appreciated .... Does IIS need to be restarted to reload .htaccess eachtime it is changed ?

Please check whether ISAPI_Rewrite filter is up and running.
What version of ISAPI_Rewrite are you using?
Do you have any other rules working?

OK .... I have spoken with host that provided the server and they say the filter is installed and running, details:

ISAPI_rewrite version 3

Plesk 8 (30 domain) installed on server

.htaccess file created in httpdocs of domain, one rule in the file:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^domain\.co\.uk$
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.domain.co.uk/$1 [R=301,L]

Thanks

Plesk installs ISAPI filter by default on it's domains:
Filter name: urlprotect
Executable: C:\SWSoft\Plesk\isapi\urlprotect.dll
Please try to remove that filter in the following way:
IIS MGR > System > yourdomain.xxx > (right-click) Properties > ISAPI Filters > Select the urlprotect and click Remove.
The filter is applied by default to each site, but not IIS entirely.

Permissions appear to be OK, I also added this to the httpd.conf:

RewriteLogLevel 9
LogLevel debug

Still no joy .. is there a support service so I can get someone from helicon to look at the configuration?

Thanks ....

Don't know whether this helps, I ran this rule sucessfully from the httpd.conf file but doesnt work from the domain/httpdocs/.htaccess file:

RewriteCond %{HTTPS} (on)?
RewriteCond %{HTTP:Host} ^(?!www\.)(.+)$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (.+)
RewriteRule .? http(?%1s)://www.%2%3 [R=301,L]

Please set permissions as per http://www.helicontech.com/isapi_rewrite/doc/security.htm
Your .htaccess file is not loaded due to insufficient permissions.

Yes, of course. Add it and give necessary rights.
