Our site currently has 100.000+ users and when enabling HotLinkBlocker it slows down our videos on demand.

We run the site on a HP Quad Core with 4gig of ram and Raid 1 on Raptor disk so its not a hardware problem.

The config file is also just fin no problem there.

We have something like 200 requests for videos every min.

The problem occurs naturally when a request is being maid and HLB has to check if the referrer is valid and the check is what raises the amount of load time.

So I was wondering if it was possible to script to the program as I would like to be able to enable and disable it from a schedule.

Something like being able to turn HLB on for half an hour and the turn it off for 2 hours that would really screw up the minds of a leecher.

Currently I enable and disable the HLB manually

HLB should not add some noticeable delay unless you use REDIRECT method because this method involves client operation in response to redirect. Can you please show your exact configuration?

As for scripting, HLB configuration is a simple text file, theoretically you should be able to edit it from script.

I actually see nothing in your configuration that may slow down the server. Probably HotlinkBlocker interfere with some other application on your server which causes such effect?
Anyway, you can disable HLB by commenting out content of [Protect] section.
