And where does .htaccess reside? Probably, you should also put the same .htaccess into the root of your subdomain.

Yes it already is.  Because they are two different apps but the same thing if you know what I mean, one for testing before rolling out updates to live and other is live.

 

Both have exactly the same .htaccess though (one in live and one in subdomain as you suggested).
