Hi,
We purchased the server license LinkFreeze. Version 2,2,0,76 was
installed on our server by a pretty reputable company. Currently, we
are testing LinkFreeze on www.pickyhomes.com (Click on any property ad
to see Linkfreeze working)
Here is a current online link using LinkFreeze:
https://www.pickyhomes.com/ad~state~Arkansas~city~Little%20Rock~code~2968.htm
We are currently testing '~' to see how LinkFreeze acts with our website before we change to '/'
Our goal URL is this:
https://www.pickyhomes.com/ad/state/Arkansas/city/Little_Rock/code/2968.htm
We do understand from your 'substitution Characters' that we have to
change the naming convention of some of our files to achieve this. This
is currently being implemented. What really concerns us is this in your
'substitution Characters': "The second issue is that you cannot move
file extension to the end of URL if you use slash as any of the
substitution character."
Question 1: Can we achieve our Goal URL using LinkFreeze or any combination of your software products?
If so, how?
If not, how important is it to search engines, in particular Google
& Yahoo, to have a URL with '/' as opposed to having a '~' or a '-'
as segregators? Do we really need a '/'? Is it going to kill our
placement?
Question 2: Let say we do settle for '~' or '-' as segregators, How do
we get rid of the %20? Is this a coding issue that we have to resolve?
Please let us know our options and we will be more than happy to work it out.
Thanks.

Hello?
This is the 3rd day. Is anyone going to support these questions?

1. Limitation about moving extension to the end comes from the URL format itself. With the URL https://www.pickyhomes.com/ad/state/Arkansas/city/Little_Rock/code/2968.htm it is impossible to say where the page name ends and parameter list starts thus LinkFreeze will be unable to decode parameters.
Using '/' character in URL nither needed nor recommended because it brings many other problems, like changed base path, moving pages deeper. In general '-' character is more preferable. Problem with '-' character is that you cannot have it inside page names, parameter names and parameter values, in order for LinkFreeze to operate.
2. LinkFreeze is unlikely to help you with %20. If you use these symbols only in parameterr values and it is required you may substitute it by '+' inside your script code.
