We have used the trial of ISAPI Rewrite (Full) to implement a reverse proxy we need to integrate another product into our application and are happy with the results.  Now to prepare the costs for my boss, I have a few questions:

  • I realize we will need a license for every server, but how does that work for development?  For example, we have several development teams, even though they will be working on the site this product is implemented in they will rarely do anything directly with the product or the portion of the site that uses it.  Or can we only purchase licenses for our production servers?
  • Is there an exact date for the release of 3.0 yet?  I ask because I want to weigh purchasing 2.0 now and upgrading to 3.0 or if we should just wait for 3.0.
  • What is the cost of 3.0 going to be versus the cost of purchasing 2.0 and upgrading to 3.0?

Thanks!

ISAPI_Rewrite is licensed on a per-machine basis regardless of its usage. So, you will need a license for each computer running ISAPI_Rewrite Full regardless of its usage.
3.0 is going to be released in two weeks.
Upgrade from 2.x to 3.0 will be $29.95.

Can you clarify the costs for 3.0:

  • Is it a one time, single cost of $29.95 regardless of how many copies we have of 2.0?  Or is it $29.95 per existing 2.0 license?
  • What will the cost of 3.0 if not upgrading from 2.0?
  • Will 3.0 fall into a volume licensing model that 2.0 currently follows?

I need to come up with exact dollars to spend and report these to my boss.  Combined with this, I need to determine if it's fiscally reasonable to purchase 2.0 now and upgrade to 3.0 later or if we just hold out 2 more weeks and purchase 3.0.

Any response for my last post?  I'm ready to make the purchase, I just need to determine which product to buy.

Lexey / Sergey:

Just wanted to say thanks for your help.  We have migrated our proof of concept from the 2.0 demo we had to the 3.0 demo and plan on purchasing the keys as soon as it is released.

BTW, as for pricing and licenses, you can just request a written quote from us by e-mail if you need it.

Yaroslav,

Thanks for the info.  One last question though, if we buy (x) number now and in the near future we determine we need additional license, can we fall into the same volume licensing?  Say we by 5 now and later need 3 more, can the cost of the additional 3 count as a total of 8 on the licensing model?
