Sometimes, my is linked this way:

mysite.com/searchItems.cgi, but other times like this mysite.com/searchItems.cgi?source=12345

The expression below is only working for when the parameter is present.  How can I make it so it works for both cases?

RewriteRule  /searchItems.cgi[^?]*(\?.*)? /newsite/niceSearchUrl.aspx$1 [RP]

I would hate to have to do this:

RewriteRule  /searchItems.cgi[^?]*(\?.*)? /newsite/niceSearchUrl.aspx$1 [RP]RewriteRule  /searchItems.cgi /newsite/niceSearchUrl.aspx [RP]
