Ape didn't work as a replacement for ISAPI Rewrite. It was uninstalled, and left behind this error:

(3) ApeCore: Can't read C:\Windows\assembly\GAC_MSIL\Helicon.Ape\3.0.0.70__95bfbfd1a384\Helicon\httpd.conf Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Windows\assembly\GAC_MSIL\Helicon.Ape\3.0.0.70__95bfbfd1a384\Helicon\httpd.conf'.

How can I get IIS back working? Numerous installs/uninstalls didn't work. Will an IIS reinstall be necessary?

The machine is a 64bit Windows Server 2008.

Hello.
Please make sure there are no mentions of Helicon Ape in C:\Windows\System32\InetSrv\Config\applicationHost.config and local web.config files.
You should remove all references.
