We have just installed osCommerce on a windows server which is running Ape, but when we try to enable seo friendly urls we are getting a 404 error.

Is this something which can be sorted with Ape ?

Thanks

Please show the config you have.
Give an example of testing request that you need to get working.
And consider enabling logging in httpd.conf and providing us with rewrite.log records for the test request.

we have got ultimate seo installed on oscommerce and I just needed to know if seo can be done with Helicon Ape as we are on a Windows Server 2008 with IIS7. The error we are getting is to do with .htaccess and windows uses that file.

Thanks for the explanation though it's still not clear enough.
Do you want to change links on pages to SEO-friendly format using Ape? If yes, please have a look at mod_seo
(http://www.helicontech.com/ape/doc/mod_seo.htm) mod_linkfreeze (http://www.helicontech.com/ape/doc/mod_linkfreeze.htm) modules.
Also please provide examples of how you links look originally and how you want them to look.
The exact wording or the error would also be helpful.
