I am using this rule in order to exclude the \index.cfm from showing in the home page url:

RewriteRule ^index.cfm$ / [NC,NS,R=301]

So, if someone were to type in:

www.asite.com/index.cfm

they would be redirected to:

www.asite.com/

However, this rule does not seem to be working for all folders of the site.

Ex: if you go to
www.asite.com/afolder/index.cfm
or
www.asite.com/afolder/anotherfolder/index.cfm

the rule does remove the index.cfm

Does anyone know how I could modify this rule to make sure the index.cfm is removed for all the urls?

Please fix your rule like this:

RewriteBase /
RewriteRule (.*)index\.cfm$ /$1 [NC,NS,R=301]
