We have a few oddball edge cases where users are calling the site as:

http:/site.com

^^ notice the single /

this is causing havoc later on in the rewtiting process causing all sorts of weird side effects.

I currently have a rule that looks something like

#Force non devs to one domain
RewriteCond Host: (?!(?:localhost|site\.org|127\.0\.0\.1)).*
RewriteRule (.*) http://site.org$1 [RP]

to force all the vanity domans onto the primary non www domain.

Anyone got an idea how to also force everyone to the full // version of http:/ ?

The thing is that all browsers fix this issue automatically.

Anyway this is a protocol error and it occurs before IIS and ISAPI_Rewrite begin to operate.

surely it cant be ALL browsers since if that was the case i wouldn't be seeing it in my logs :P

Are I correct in saying that regardless we cant fix this? Can we recognize and at least redirect it to an error page?

"Can we recognize and at least redirect it to an error page?"
- I can't think of a way you can recognize it with ISAPI_Rewrite as the error occurs earlier than ISAPI_Rewrite begins to operate...
