ISAPI_REWRITE 2 32Bit full
(Installed from isapi_rwf_x86_0073.msi)

Windows 2003 R2 64Bit
IIS 6 runnning in 32Bit

We have backed up IIS through the backup\restore wizard
in IIS Manager from a successfully configured server and
restored to a secondary server of the same build.

Flat files for the IIS website are stored on a filer and
accessed through a CIF share.

Because of this the application pool runs as a
configurable identity but ISAPI_REWRITE does not work
unless the configurable user in the app pool is an admin
account. The other account we should be using has the
required permissions to the filer and the local box but
does not work.

Any ideas much appreciated.

Thanks

Stuart

So, you have ISAPI_Rewrite configuration files on some shared storage?
Are you sure the desired user has sufficient permissions to read from that storage?

Hi,

Yes, permissions are good. We have another IIS server that
uses the same folders\files on the filer with the same
account which is fine.

Could you please tell what is the path to the config and what error you get upon request.
Do you have any requests working through ISAPI_Rewrite at all? If yes, in which way do the differ?

nothing works at all, complete service unavailable

the website points to a unc path

"\\dcstorage0\wwwroot\company\website" where the config is.

It almost feels like there is something in the
backup\restore of the website that is causing a weird
permissions problem....

You see, ISAPI_Rewrite is not the one that gives out "service unavailable". It simply can't do that.
