Hi.

We are are in the process of moving a lot of image and video content from our local server to a CDN (such as Akamai or Limelight) and need a way to rewrite those links to point to the URL on the CDN. 

Example: original link: http://www.mysite.com/images/img1.gif should be rewritten on output to http://mysite.limelight.com/img1.gif. 

I have used Linkfreeze in the past to rewrite content on the way back out to the client and it works great but I don't know if it has a scheme that would support the scenario above.

Is either ISAPI Rewrite or LinkFreeze able to do that?

Hi Anton.

Thanks for the quick reply.  It's not quite like that.  I have links in my content pointing to local images on the site(http://www.mysite.com/images/img1.gif) that I want rewritten to CDN hosted images (http://mysite.limelight.com/img1.gif) on the way back out to the browser.  I am thinking of how LinkFreeze will make changes to links on the way out to the browser.  When the link is displayed on the browser it should directly point to the CDN hosted image.

ok. It sounds like ISAPI_Rewrite will not do what I need. 

The url I want to see in the address bar is: http://mysite.limelight.com/img1.gif

The NEW real location of the image is the same: http://mysite.limelight.com/img1.gif

The problem is that the links in my content are pointing to the OLD location: http://www.mysite.com/images/img1.gif. 

I was looking for something that would look through my content and dynamically fix any of these links on the way out to the browser, replacing the OLD link with the NEW link.  I know that LinkFreeze looks for URL patterns in the content and will do this.  There is no way for to give LinkFreeze a custom pattern like that?

That's great to hear about APE.  That sounds like what I need.  Do you have an estimate of when that new version will be available?
