Is it possible to write rules to .htaccess file not from the editor?

i want to write a page that can add rules to this file and i dont want to enter my server inorder to do that?

Do you mean you want to edit .htaccess via a script? Yes, it's possible.

You may edit it as any other plain text file.
Sorry, but writing asp.net code for you is beyond my competence.

thats ok....dont need help to write this code

but when i tried to do it, i got access denied and im sure i gave all the permission i needed to give.

so maybe this file is been locked by something and you can not write to it in that way.

have you even done that?

ISAPI_Rewrite does not block access to .htaccess files.
Please consider using FileMonitor tool by SysInternals to find out what is blocking access.
